Seelbachs Private Reserve Batch 3 pays tribute to the cocktail our name draws inspiration from. The cocktail is a mix of Kentucky Bourbon, Triple Sec, bitters and topped with champagne. Batch 3 starts with a blend of 84% 4-year 9-month and 16% 15-year Kentucky Bourbon. This blend finished in Triple Sec and Champagne barrels independently . Seelbachs Private Reserve Bourbon Finished in Triple Sec & Sparkling Wine Casks Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose is initially dried fruit. Lots of dried mango and apricot. It moves toward clove, cinnamon and a touch of black pepper.

Palate: The palate is a mix of sweet and spice. It initially has notes of candied orange peel and tobacco. That turns to black pepper and almond skins.

Finish: There’s some dry cocoa as it move to a long finish of peach tea and dried cherry.

Distillery Information

You may have heard of the bubbly-bourbon cocktail by the same name. In 1995, the bar director of the famed Seelbach Hotel found a recipe for the pre-Prohibition drink on an old menu. A fumbled Champagne cocktail mixed with a Manhattan to created the Seelbach cocktail. The cocktail was a hit. Both during its heyday in the early 1900s and its resurrection in the late 90s. There was only one problem. The bar manager concocted the whole story! Like most good tales, the Seelbach story spread like wildfire.
