XOP stands for Xtra Old Particular and refers to the finest casks of single malt and single grain whiskey from family stocks. The Clynelish 25 years old presented here is one of the pearls of the XOP collection. Distilled in October 1996, the whiskey has spent over a quarter of a century in refilled hogshead cask #DL 15942. Bottled in June 2022 at cask strength (48.4% abv) and unchilled in a limited edition of 237 bottles. Based in the Northern Highlands, Clynelish is a very important distillery in Diageo’s portfolio. The whiskey there is the main ingredient of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve and an important ingredient in other versions of the most popular Scotch blend.
