Producer Information

Chteau Moncontour overlooks the Loire River and extends over the hillsides of the heart of the Vouvray appellation, a region famous for the longevity of its white wines. The chateau boasts stunning views over the whole Loire Valley area and benefits from the unique geological composition of Vouvray, which has large deposits of porous tuffeau limestone and offers exceptional drainage. The medieval building has lived through many centuries and played host to a variety of different personalities from the court and the arts. The current faade dates back to the Renaissance period, and was built by Charles VII, who presented it to his Dame de Beaut, Agns Sorel, as a gift. Since 1994, the Feray family has been restoring and preserving the chteau with enthusiasm and commitment, making it one of the most remarkable historic sites in the Loire Valley. The wine estate is one of the oldest in the Touraine region and is today featured among the most prestigious in the Loire Valley.
