Domaine d’Eugnie is a wine producer in Burgundy’s Vosne-Romane known for its Pinot Noir. It was formed in 2006 from the esteemed vineyards of Domaine Ren Engel after the death of its proprietor, Philippe Engel, which included premier and grand cru plots. Francois Pinault, owner of Chteau Latour, bought the vineyards but not the winery. Following Engel’s death in May 2005, the 2005 vintage of Domaine Ren Engel was sold in bulk. After the acquisition of the vineyards, Domaine D’Eugnie operated in an interim space at Domaine Lup-Cholet in Nuits-Saint-Georges for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 vintages. In the interim, D’Eugnie established its own winery back in Vosne-Romane, at the former Clos Frantin vineyard and buildings. These formerly belonged to Beaune-based wine estate Albert Bichot. Bichot retained the Clos Frantin brand. D’Eugnie upgraded all the facilities and renamed the monopole vineyard to Clos d’Eugnie. The domain farms 6.5 hectares (16 acres) in Vosne-Romane, Vougeot and Flagey-chezeaux. It produces six wines from five appellations: the grand crus chezeaux, Grands chezeaux and Clos de Vougeot, the premier cru Aux Brles and Vosne-Romane Villages. In 2009, several parcels of vineyards began the conversion to biodynamic farming practices.
