Reviews:
Chteau Peyrabon is a Cru Bourgeois wine producer on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. Unusually, it has vineyards both in the Haut-Mdoc and Pauillac. A trio of red wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon supported by Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. There are 37 hectares (91 acres) of vineyards in the Haut-Mdoc zone. The chateau is located here, near Labrousse just north of the road from Artigues. Two Haut-Mdoc red wines are made; Chteau Peyrabon, and the estate’s second wine, Chteau Pierbone. Chteau Peyrabon’s Haut-Mdoc vineyard is composed of gravel, clay, sand, and limestone soils with vines averaging 25 years old. The chteau’s Cabernet Sauvignon dominant wine is aged in 33 percent new French oak for around 14 months before bottling. Around 35,000 cases of Chteau Peyrabon are produced annually. Chteau La Fleur Peyrabon is made from seven hectares (17 acres) of vines planted a couple of kilometers away in Pauillac. Around 3000 cases are produced per annum. The estate has a history dating back to the 18th Century with a chteau built in 1766. It was been owned between 1998 and 2022 by Bordeaux merchant Patrick Bernard, who sold it to BCAP, a group controlled by the Castja family, owners of Chateau Batailley and Chateau Lynch Moussas.
