Producer: Chteau Montrose

Vintage: 2004

Size: 750ml

ABV: 13%

Varietal: Bordeaux Blend Red

    Country/Region: France, Bordeaux

Deep, dark ruby-red color. The dark fruit aromas are stalky, earthy & have cinnamon notes. The palate displays ripe red-fruits & liquorice. The palate is tight & concentrated with huge grip – There are fine, ripe-pip tannins & cedar notes. This wine is quite typical of Montrose. Alcohol is in balance & good acidity leaves a jammy, pruney fruit on the finish, it lasts well and will open nicely as the wine matures.

        Producer Information

Chteau Montrose is a well-regarded and critically much-lauded wine estate based in the Saint-Estphe appellation of Bordeaux’s northern Mdoc region. The estate was ranked as a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, and is regarded as one of the very best properties at that level. The chteau is unusual in that it is more of a small hamlet than a single castle or estate. This is due to extensive estate developments in the late 19th Century. The epitome of the Saint-Estphe appellation, Montrose’s top wine is known for its structure (even austerity) in youth, but beguiling many as it ages. The grand vin, composed largely of Cabernet Sauvignon with some Merlot, is typically deeply colored, powerful and firm when young, but has superb aging potential. The second wine is La Dame de Montrose; the third is Saint-Estphe de Chteau Montrose.
