Dark and brooding, this has a massive core of blackberry ganache, blueberry jam, cocoa powder, tar, mesquite and charcoal flavors caged by ironclad tannins. Shows awesome depth and length of fruit even though the brawn of the vintage is dominant now. If you’re considering hunting this white rhino, cellaring is a must.
Domaine de Marcoux is a historic wine estate based in the Chteauneuf-du-Pape region of France’s southern Rhne Valley. The estate produces a range of wines from both Chteauneuf itself as well as other, neighboring geographical designations including Lirac and the Ctes du Rhne. It also makes Vin de France wines from fruit grown in the area. The winery is located just north of Chteauneuf-de-Pape (but still within the production zone of the appellation) in southern Orange, not far from the high-profile Chteau de Beaucastel estate). Domaine de Marcoux is owned and run by the Armenier family, which can trace its roots in the region back to the 13th Century. The domaine produces two red wines from Chteauneuf-du-Pape, including the estate’s top Vieilles Vignes from 100-percent Grenache, and a Chteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc. It also makes Cuve La Lorentine from their La Lorentine estate directly across the Rhne river from Chteauneuf, in the commune of Saint Laurent des Arbres in Lirac, as well as a Ctes du Rhne from vineyards in the Chteauneuf-du-Pape area.
